Escondido Humane Society: Special Needs Pets at the Escondido Humane Society

Yogi has pretty limited vision, so we are working with him to help build his confidence. Once that happens, it will be easier for him to trust his human pals to watch over him and keep him safe and happy. Yogi Bear loves to stretch out in the cool grass and enjoy the sunshine.

Apple is about 1 year old and has been spayed. Apple likes to toss her toys around, including a set of plastic baby keys. Here she is dropping her greenleaf lettuce so she can smile for the camera. Like many bunnies, Apple is cage-protective so would thrive in an x-pen setup, and would do best in a rabbit-experienced home.

Ash is a white neutered lionhead bunny boy about 1 1/2 years old. Ash is vey sweet but also an active boy who can be protective of his space. He is the perfect friend for someone who really wants an interactive boy and has lots of time to play with him and give him room to exercise.

Cookie is currently in foster care because she became very nervous at the shelter. Cookie is very affectionate and sweet. She will need a kind family that allows her to seek affection on her own terms. She is always very curious and forward, which makes her seem like a confidant cat, but Cookie actually prefers if you treat her like she is very shy.

These special pets need special homes ... someone with a heart big enough to understand their needs. Though these pets may take more time, attention, or care, we know they're worth it.
