About Bob

Bob Stout is the Escondido Humane Society Behaviorist and an accomplished dog trainer. He and his family are very active in Animal Assisted Therapy: they have a Doberman and Welsh Corgi (both Therapy Dogs). They visit nursing and retirement homes. While Bob visits people who desire a visit from the dogs, his boys, Alan, 13 and Nick, 12, read books to the residents. Bob's sister is the founder of Love on a Leash, a locally founded Animal Assisted Therapy Group.

Bob and his wife, Laura, are involved in the School Tour Program. They visit three to four schools per day for three weeks, showing agility dogs in action to Elementary School children. It is combined with an educational packet, with no charge to the schools.

Bob's Tune Up Class

The Escondido Humane Society and its staff want each adoption to be a lifelong success. We offer several programs to help you with any behavioral/training issues you may have with your new pet. Although we observe each dog during their stay here and every dog is temperament tested, they may not exhibit the same demeanor once they are settled into your home. If you begin to experience behavior problems or have specific concerns please contact us immediately. We can help you in three ways

1 A free Tune up class for dogs adopted from our shelter for as long as you own your dog. This class is designed to help with basic commands and or problems that you may be having with your dog. Our highly experienced animal behaviorist, Bob Stout, will assess each situation, as well as help you with individual problems. Handouts will be made available to help you expand your knowledge.

Classes will be held the first Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. and the third Thursday of the month from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. These classes will be by appointment only.

2. A personal, one-on-one appointment with your dog is also available by appointment.

3. Phone or e-mail consultation with the animal behaviorist.

Remember all appointments must be made in advance.
