ESCONDIDO HUMANE SOCIETY RECEIVES
$50,000 GRANT FROM ELLEN BROWNING
SCRIPPS FOUNDATION
February 1, 2002- Escondido, CA—The trustees of the
Ellen Browning Scripps Foundation have awarded the Escondido Humane Society
with a grant of $50,000 in support of the society’s rebuild fund. The
Scripps Foundation desires to maintain an active partnership with EHS by
participating in an on-site visit once during the year, along with receiving
periodic progress reports on the status of EHS.
Phil Morgan, executive director of the Escondido Humane Society says, “Miss
Scripps’ investment into our organization will be of great assistance in helping
us to rebuild our shelter and return to carrying out our mission in its
entirety. We look forward to working with Mr. Dawson and the Foundation.”
E. Douglas Dawson, executive director of the Foundation, says of Ellen Browning
Scripps, “All of us associated with Miss Scripps' Foundation strive to maintain
her profound philanthropic legacy. In keeping with her style, it is
extremely important to us that we have an active partnership with the Escondido
