GERARD J. BUCKLEY JOINS THE
ESCONDIDO
HUMANE SOCIETY AS VICE PRESIDENT OF
DEVELOPMENT
May 7, 2002—Escondido, CA—Gerard J. Buckley,
a seasoned veteran in the field of fundraising, has joined the Escondido Humane
Society as Vice President of Development. Jerry will work with the
society’s board of directors to plan and implement a Capital Campaign and
ongoing fundraising programs. The campaign to build an 84,150 sq. ft.
model humane society will seek funding of $10-11 million. The new facility
will allow the society to serve a greater quantity and variety of animals in
North County and portions of San Diego County.
Jerry says, “I am
very excited about helping the Escondido Humane Society create a new facility
that will provide vitally needed programs and services to the residents of
inland North County and their pets. Our goal is to be a safe haven for
all surrendered and abandoned animals and to find suitable people to adopt
them.”
Prior to joining
the Humane Society, Jerry was executive director and chief development officer
for the Friends of Vista Hill Foundation. In addition, he served for
twelve years at the Scripps Memorial Hospital Foundation in La Jolla. While at
Scripps, he helped raise significant contributions for new buildings, programs
and projects. Jerry is an active volunteer and currently serves as board
member for the Torrey Pines High School Foundation, San Diego Dance Theater,
North County Philanthropy Council and Explorer Elementary Charter School.
Jerry enjoys
running, baseball and the performing arts. He currently resides in Solana
Beach with his wife and their two children.
