THE ESCONDIDO HUMANE SOCIETY
DECLARES
JUNE 22ND ADOPT A SHELTER CAT DAY
Escondido, CA—June 13, 2002—The Escondido
Humane Society will recognize National Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat month with a cat
adoption day June 22nd at the Petsmart store on University drive in
Vista. The adoption event will kick off at 9 a.m. and wrap up at 4
p.m. Adopters will be treated to reduced adoption fees, free cat collars,
free EHS t-shirts, and a raffle for a cat bed filled with cat supplies.
The humane society’s goal is to encourage people to adopt from local animal
shelters. According to Phil Morgan, CEO of the Escondido Humane Society,
“Adopting from an animal shelter is a win-win situation. The adopter is getting
a healthy animal and we’re furthering our mission to eliminate pet
overpopulation. If every new pet owner got their animal from an animal
shelter or humane society, we’d see an end to pet overpopulation a lot sooner.
”
All of the cats
adopted from the Escondido Humane Society have been given up to date shots,
spayed or neutered, de-wormed, given flea control, and leukemia tested. The adoption
fee for cats age seven and under is $85. The fee for cats age seven and
older is $50. The Petsmart store is located at 1740 University Drive in
Vista, off the Sycamore drive exit. For more information, call the
Escondido Humane Society at (760)839-0293.
