Chair: Betsy McCann
Betsy has been an animal advocate for many years, and comes to the Board of Directors with multiple years of experience on the boards of two nonprofits in Northern California. Her career as a management consultant has focused on Customer Relationship Management; she has a BSBA in Accounting, an MBA in Computer Science, a Ph.D. in Management, and has been an instructor at the Yale University School of Management. Betsy and her husband became Escondido residents in 2003, and have adopted Perro (long-haired Chihuahua mix shown at left) and Lizzie (tortoiseshell tabby) from EHS to join the family with two other rescued cats.

Secretary: Sheryl Landrum
Sheryl Landrum is an avid animal lover and the proud “parent” of three lovely golden girls, Lilu (pictured here), Ginger Rose, and Abby. Sheryl has been in management and accounting for over 30 years and is the District Manager of the Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego County in Lakeside; she also is on the Board of the Fire Safe Council of San Diego County in conjunction with the RCD working with local, state, and federal agencies to help keep San Diego fire safe. While her undergraduate work was in business, Sheryl has a BA Degree in English from Cal State Fullerton, CA and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English as well. Sheryl and her husband Rick moved from Orange County in 2001 and have been residing in Escondido since then.

Mark Hayes, CPA is a local resident and Chair of the Finance Committee. And yes, that’s his adorable pug on the left!
Director: Mauricio Dujowich, DVM, DACVS
A Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, Dr. Mauricio Dujowich grew up in San Diego and attended veterinary school at the University of California, Davis. During his residency at Iowa State University, Dr. Dujowich pioneered a new technique for prevention of gastric dilatation volvulus in dogs. He has been extensively trained in orthopedic, soft tissue, and neurological surgery. His dedication and training has led to multiple invitations as a lecturer and instructor at a national and international level.
While pursuing his career goals, Dr. Dujowich’s strong interests in improving veterinary education led to the founding of VetPrep.com, the veterinary field’s leading online veterinary board examination preparation resource for veterinary students. Dr. Dujowich is proud of helping over 25,000 veterinarians (and counting) pass their licensing examination. In addition, Dr. Dujowich has published peer-reviewed articles on several species including horses and California condors. Dr. Dujowich has served as a surgeon for the Iowa State Univeristy Wildlife Care Center as well as visiting surgeon for the San Diego Safari Park and the Blank Park Zoo in Iowa.
Dr. Dujowich’s passion for veterinary medicine has led to multiple awards and recognitions such as the California Veterinary Medical Association’s award for Practice Excellence, Favorite Clinician at Iowa State University, and the VetPrep Lifetime Achievement Award. An avid outdoorsman, during his free time you will likely find him surfing, skiing, hiking, running or biking.
Director: Cathie Jones
Cathie Jones has served as a human resources professional for more than 20 years during changing and challenging times in rapidly growing organizations, both Fortune 100 and public sector. She has been involved in all facets of human resources including recruitment and selection, benefits, employee training, organizational development, employee and labor relations, risk management and safety. Ms. Jones holds two bachelor’s degrees, a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology and a teaching credential in the field of psychology. She is now spearheading EHS’ growth as chair of the Development Committee.
Director: Mark Wooster
Mark and his wife, Kathy, live in Poway and are the proud parents of Oliver (adopted from the Escondido Humane Society team) and Hunter. One of their human children, Laura and her fiancé, Blake, are raising two EHS alumni: Mowgli (Lee) and Libby (Naomi), both adopted from the loving care of EHS. Mark is Chief Financial Officer of Wells Media Group, a San Diego-based, business-to-business media company with a focus on the property/casualty insurance industry. Mark also serves on the board of the Japan Society of San Diego & Tijuana.
