Adoption Fees

• $110 for Puppies and Kittens up to 6 months old
• $85 for Adult Dogs and Cats (6 months - 7 years)
• $55 for Senior Dogs and Cats (animals over 7 years old)
• “Best Buddies”: Adopt one adult cat at the regular fee and the second adult cat’s fee is waived! (Does not include humane adoptions)
• $45 for Rabbits
• $10 for Guinea Pigs
• $5 for Hamsters, Rats and Mice

* Please note: Our adoption policy states that we will not adopt out two dogs together unless they came to the shelter together and are a bonded pair.

Adoption Fees for Cats/Kittens, Dogs/Puppies and Rabbits Include:

• Professional Veterinary Examination
• Complimentary Wellness Check at Local Veterinary Partner (over 20 from which you can choose)
• Vaccination Panel (Dogs/Puppies and Cats/Kittens only)
• Behavioral exam
• License (valid in Escondido, San Marcos, and Poway)
• De-worming (for all puppies/kittens under 4 months, and adults if needed)
• Microchipping and registration with Home Again
• Complimentary Consulations with Our Behaviorist (Dogs/Puppies and Cats/Kittens) for lifetime of pet
• Educational materials on the care of the animal
• Spay/Neuter at Humane Society
• FeLv/FIV testing (cats/kittens)
• Sample bag of food

Did you know? Adoption fees do not completely cover the cost of care. The Escondido Humane Society incurs an average expense of $450 per animal. Charitable contributions to our center allow us to keep our adoption feeds low.
