Luna
Just wanted to give you all an update on our adoption. My Mom and I came to the Escondido Humane Society on August 27, 2009, in hopes of finding a kitten. We met a few cute kitties, but when we met Biscuit we knew we had found the one. We were helped by the lovely adoption counselor, Barbara, and in no time we had a new addition to our family. Luna At first Biscuit, whom we renamed Luna, was very timid and scared, but in no time her true personality emerged. She is a very sweet, playful, and curious kitty. She is quite unlike any cat we have ever had. For instance, her favorite thing to do is to play fetch! A close second is lying on laps. Luna loves to be around people and is very friendly. She is quite the diva and loves to be the center of attention. Her only fault is that she is very mischevious and likes to find things to get into that she’s not supposed to. But even then, we can’t get mad at her because she is so funny and cute. To be honest, she has us wrapped around her little paw.
We are so happy to have her in our lives, and she seems to be very happy too. She runs to the door when we come home, and we can’t wait to see her. We love her so much, and we want to thank all of you at Escondido Humane Society for giving us Luna, our treasure.

Joey
We adopted Joey from Escondido Humane Society in 2006. I just wanted to tell you guys that he is the light of our life and tell you his “happy tail.”
Joey had swimmers as a pup and was surrendered to EHS at 8 weeks old because he didn’t walk. You guys went above and beyond in treating him, taking him to a specialty vet and getting him to foster care. We fell in love with Joey’s story and succumbed to his sad face. We weren’t sure about adopting a pit bull, but your staff ensured us that Joey was a good dog. He got along beautifully with our other dog, a mutt named Ellie Mae. Joe has been the light of our life for the past 4 years. He is silly, adorable, loving and sweet. He loves ALL people and his best friends are a cat named Stanley and a rabbit named Charlie. He serves as a pit bull ambassadog here in Indianapolis where we now live. There are so many people who tell us that meeting Joe has changed their minds about pit bulls. We are heavily involved with a group out here called Indy Pit Crew. In 2008 he passed his Canine Good Citizen test. In 2009, Indy Pit Crew selected Joey to be on his very own car magnet.
We now foster dogs, most often pit bulls, with medical issues for our local humane society, as a way of giving other dogs like Joe a chance at a happy life. Thank you again for all you did to help Joey. We will be forever grateful.
Sincerely,
Nichole and Aaron Heilbron
Hunter
My beloved cat of 13 years, Toby, was diagnosed with cancer in September 2007. On October 15th, Toby lost his struggle with cancer and I lost my best friend. I knew I could never replace him, but knowing that I had means to take care of another cat, I went to the Escondido Humane Society.
Low and behold, in the front lobby was this sweet and lovable cat that was named “Crickett.” Once I held him, I knew this was the little guy for me. Of course I had to rename him since he was a stocky lion-faced feline and I felt “Hunter” was the perfect fit. I had another cat at home that was only a couple of months younger than him, and since the second day I brought him home, Hunter and Buster have become best friends. They play together, eat together and have fun wrestling. Hunter has been such a delight and a wonderful find.
Thank you Escondido Humane Society for giving me such a wonderful gift. I will always adopt at the EHS from now on.

Hana
I just wanted to write a note to thank you for giving us the opportunity to adopt the most wonderful dog!! We adopted Hana (her shelter name was “Tipper”) last October. When we first brought her home my husband and I were not sure that we could handle the responsibility with what we got ourselves into; hwever, with her sweet and fun-loving personality all of our concerns were alleviated very quickly. We fell in love with Hana in no time.
We were told that Hana was found with a rope around her neck walking the streets. We had no idea what her story was, but we did know that she was now in a good place with lots of love. Hana is a snuggle bug that loves all people and dogs. She is a smart little darling with LOTS of personality! We have many nicknames for her now including “wiggle butt” as her whole body shakes with joy when she sees people and dogs. We love coming home from work when “wiggles” greets us with kisses!
Hana is now a happy little girl- going on lots of walks, car rides, dog park visits and snuggling with us every evening on the couch while watching TV. We love her with all of our hearts and cannot imagine our lives without her. We look forward to many more years of fun and love with our Hana Bear. Thank you for all of the work that you do to help these wonderful animals and thank you for giving us our Hana.
