Special Pets for Special Homes
These special pets need special homes … someone with a heart big enough to understand their needs. Though these pets may take more time, attention, or care, we know they’re worth it. Read below to learn more about our special pets, and call our Adoption Counselors at (760) 888-2247 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. seven days a week to meet them.
If you can’t adopt but still want to help these special pets, click here to donate to help us with their care during their stay at the shelter. Be sure to designate your donation to “Special Needs Fund.”

Derby and Whisper are a very sweet pair of Californian mix bunnies about a year old. They are spayed and neutered and ready to join a kind family. These bunnies are mellow and kind and will do well with gentle children. They are currently in foster care.

Apple likes to toss her toys around, including a set of plastic baby keys. Here she is dropping her greenleaf lettuce so she can smile for the camera. Like many bunnies, Apple is cage-protective so would thrive in an x-pen setup, and would do best in a rabbit-experienced home.
