Humane Education

Humane Education is designed to teach animal-centered lessons, especially responsible pet ownership and pet care. Educating adults and children is critical to our mission —in addition to caring for and rehoming companion animals, we seek to prevent animal abuse and teach compassion for all beings. Our humane education program stresses the relatedness between humane treatment of animals and the world at large.

Programs include classroom visits, summer camps, at-risk classes, special events, pet therapy, tours, parties and adult-education classes.

“At its most basic level, humane education is about learning to care for the animals in our homes and communities. It is about fostering kindness, respect and empathy for both human and nonhuman animals, and looking after the environment and its diverse habitats. Unlike science and other academic disciplines, humane education has a philosophical component that strives to establish a sense of responsibility and make the world a better, more humane place.” -ASPCA
