TWO PARTIALLY BLIND
KITTENS WAITING FOR HOMES
ESCONDIDO, CA—November 26, 2002—Toby
and Jackson, two three month old kittens born partially blind, are still waiting to
be adopted after appearing on KUSI Morning News last week with the Escondido
Humane Society. Their sisters were
adopted immediately after the show, but there hasn’t been any interest in the
two male tabbies.
“There’s always a lull in kitten adoptions right
before the holidays,” says Denice Beeson, Director of
Animal Care. “People aren’t interested
in introducing a new pet to the house right before Thanksgiving or before Christmas. A week before Christmas
that will change. But, by that
time these guys will be twice the size they are now.”
The kittens have had a rough beginning. Almost immediately after giving birth, their
mother rejected them, refusing to nurse.
The kittens were only 48 hours old when they were brought to the
Escondido Humane Society. Because the
humane society doesn’t have a shelter right now, the kittens have been in the
society’s foster care program until last week.
The kittens are healthy, despite having only partial
vision. They will need to be placed into
homes where they will be strictly indoors.
Their eyes will have to be kept clean and monitored as they grow older. The kittens have already been neutered and
are up to date with their shots. Their
adoption fee is $85. They are available
at the PETsMART store off Sycamore drive in Vista. For information about the kittens, call (760)
630-3544.
