Hey kids! Just because you have to be 18 years or older to volunteer at the Escondido Humane Society doesn’t mean that you can’t help animals in need. There are lots of ways for you to get involved and make an impact for the animals in our care. Here are just a few ideas - and don’t be afraid to get creative and think up your own ways to help!
Helpful Hints:
- Plan a fundraiser: Fun ideas include holding a bake sale or lemonade stand or organizing a car wash or yard sale. Use your imagination!
- Form an animal club at your school. Or, you can hold a penny drive and ask all of your classmates to get involved. You can even hold a competition between classes to see who can raise the most funds!
- Make toys or beds for our cats.
- Help our homeless pets find homes! Visit our adoptable animals page and pick a pet that is up for adoption. Design a colorful, fun flier “advertising” the pet for adoption. Include important information, like breed and age and contact information for EHS. Make lots of copies and pass them out everywhere!
- Hold a toy or donation drive for our animals. Check out our Wish List for items we need the most.
- Instead of asking for birthday or Christmas gifts, ask your friends and family to donate to EHS in your honor.
- Collect recyclables at home and at school, including aluminum, plastic, and old printer ink cartridges. Turn them in for funds to be donated to the Escondido Humane Society.
- Celebrate your birthday at the Escondido Humane Society. Our Education staff will make the day special by showing you and your guests our beautiful new facility. This is a hands-on party so everyone gets to meet, pet and play with our special furry and not so furry creatures.
- Attend our Critter Camps during the summer.
- Help us spread the word. Consider doing your next research paper on an animal-related topic, or help us promote our pets in your classroom.
