A CALL for HELP!!!

We need foster homes for some of our adult adoptable dogs.

Can you help the Escondido Humane Society?

Often times we have animals at the shelter that show signs of behavioral or physical changes due to the stress of being in a kennel environment. And sometimes the ONLY course of action that will save their life is to get them out of the shelter environment and into a loving foster home. Fostering gives them a second chance at life and increases the likelihood they will become a family’s cherished pet.

We need more short-term, and long-term foster homes to provide a safe and caring environment until some of our adult adoptable dogs can find a permanent home.

If you can help, EHS will provide you with all the training you need as well as on-going support. EHS will ensure you have your questions answered and feel confident to handle most situations.

Please contact Robbie Benson at [email protected] if you have an interest in joining our foster program for adult adoptable dogs. Robbie will gladly furnish you with all the details and we can guarantee…our dogs will melt your heart.

Please forward this message to family and friends you think might be interested in fostering an adult adoptable dog!

Some of Our Current Foster Dogs:

Cheyenne - 5 year old, female Shepherd mix

Dolly - 2 year old, female Retriever mix

We are lucky in comparison to most shelters. When our shelter was built we had a nursery built so that the babies that come to our shelter won't have to be exposed to all the other animals.

We also made it our policy not to euthanize animals just because they are babies. (Many shelters, even no kill shelters, will euthanize any animal under 8 weeks of age because they are too difficult to care for.)

But even with our nursery we won't have enough room for all the kittens, and the more that are at the shelter the greater the risk that the kittens will be exposed to upper respiratory viruses or other diseases that may take their lives. It breaks our hearts to loose kittens because we can't protect them.

Baby animals, like baby people, are not able to fight off disease nearly as well as adults. They take a lot of time to care for and need to be held and loved and socialized so that they become accustomed to people and will grow up to be wonderful pets.

If you believe you would like to foster a litter of orphaned kittens or a mother with kittens please read the foster information on our web site and contact Micki to learn more about our foster program. (Contact information is located at the bottom of the page.)

Please Spay and Neuter Your Pets. There are already too many kitties that don't have homes.
